On 29–30 September 2025, more than 40 children and youth from across Thailand — including from the central region, the north, and the southernmost provinces, as well as participants from the Generation Hope campaign in Hong Kong— came together for the Children and Youth Workshop and Roundtable on Climate and Environmental Policies, organised by Save the Children Thailand and partners as part of Bangkok Climate Action Week 2025.
Over two days, the young participants shared their perspectives and recommendations on urgent issues directly impacting their lives — from local flood and disaster management, air pollution, waste management, food security, and integrating climate change and sustainability into school curriculum.
Some of the proposals from children and youth included establishing local flood prevention and response centers, building knowledge on resource management tailored to specific areas and communities, and introducing crop insurance and income protection measures against disasters, among many others.
What the young people wish to see is not only that adults listen and take note of their concerns, but also that there are continuous communication and dissemination of information on the progress of each step of implementation — so that the public can follow up transparently and inclusively.
We were honoured to welcome distinguished guests, including representatives of the European Union, the National Human Rights Commission, the senate, as well as participants from government agencies, civil society, and partner organisations. Their presence highlighted the importance of multi-sector collaboration, as tackling the climate crisis requires collective effort.
At Save the Children Thailand, we believe that the voices and power of children and youth are central to shaping climate policies and driving solutions for a more sustainable and just future. We commend and thank all the young participants for their courage in speaking up and sharing their ideas — contributions that are key to making meaningful change.
