“Getting into the area was quite a challenge. Some routes were heavily damaged, and we had to rely on local guides to lead the way,” said

Perhatti Sapuding, a flood relief officer for Save the Children Thailand, who recently visited Lipa Sango and Bara Hoh sub-districts in Pattani Province to deliver essential supplies to those in need.

Due to their proximity to the Pattani River, both sub-districts were severely impacted by the major floods in November 2025. Water levels rose as high as chest level, with some areas remaining submerged up to the first floor for nearly a week. This caused significant disruptions to education, work, and the daily lives of local residents.

To support the recovery process, Save the Children Thailand distributed 1,000 relief kits for children and families. These kits are designed to restore quality of life, hygiene, and safety, helping families bounce back as quickly as possible.

“Every time we visited a home, we witnessed the incredible resilience of the people here. Despite facing floods every year, their spirits remain remarkably strong,” Perhatti shared. “The most heart-warming scene was seeing the villagers smile as they opened their boxes. They told us that every single item was truly useful and necessary. The grandmothers and aunts were particularly delighted with the sarongs included in our relief kits.”

“Many families expressed their appreciation for our attention to detail. The kits are clearly categorized by age and specific needs, from infants to children. We provided diapers to help reduce the financial burden on families during this recovery phase. For the children, they were thrilled with the new clothes, shoes, toys, and waterproof bags, items they can continue to use for a long time.”

Perhatti added, “Save the Children Thailand team didn’t go there just to deliver supplies. We wanted to tell every family that we are here to offer our moral support, and that we will get through this together.”

Save the Children Thailand would like to express our sincere gratitude to the Lipa Sango Health Promotion Hospital (Nong Cik District), the Bara Hoh Health Promotion Hospital (Mueang District), local leaders, and Village Health Volunteers for their close support throughout the distribution process. Every step of our operation was conducted with the utmost care for child safety. All staff and volunteers have undergone strict Child Safeguarding Policy training. It is this spirit of collaboration and kindness from all sectors that enabled us to reach and care for the affected families thoroughly.
